This khimar is somewhere between khimar with sleeves (jilbab) and khimar without sleeves (with slits for hands). So it has sleeves but you still will need to ware something under it abaya, shirts, etc.

The sleeves for this khimar are cut like bat-sleeves or like kimono sleeves.  The basic pattern is the pattern for khimar-kaftan: click here. Here I also combined colors: black and white.

Fabric  consumption we calculate in the same way like for khimar kaftan: Measure the length you want to have starting from the temple, multiply by 2 and add 30 cm. For more information about fabric consumption read this article: click me.

Let’s modify our basic pattern. Then we cut the front part and using it we cut backside part.

If you do not understand the pattern, please try to sew khimar-kaftan first.

So we cut the front and the back.

For sleeves I cut white cuffs – two rectangles; and also I did white decoration for the front hemline.

Using the rest of the fabric we should cut the head-band. Sew it and attach it to the back side.

Sew edges.

Join back and front parts. The width between seams along face line depends on your head size and fabric type.  You should try it on before sew with sewing machine.

Let’s make cuffs:

It is ready!
