In this tutorial we sew clossover underscarf, the simpliest model.

Who have not tried yet to sew underscraf-tube, you definitely  need to do this first. Use our sewing-tutorial: click here. And only after that you can try to sew this design.

You will need a bit more fabric than for regular underscarf tube.  If you are going to buy new fabric, you need to take 35 cm (with the width about 150 cm).

Cut a rectangle same as for the underscarf-tube for your headsize.

Now we need to split it into two parts.  On the back side we do not need more than one layer that it why we cut out back part and I recommend you to take the width from ear to ear  to have the seams hidden under scarf and to not place them on the ears.

And now we design the front part.

Cut the small rectangle from it – we will replace it with crossover layers. I did only two layers, but it is possible to do 4 and also 6 and it is possible to make them different colors, but the more layers you make, the warmer underscarf you get.

where
А – seam allowance for the back side
С = В-А – the width of the small rectangle used to design crossocer layers: 12-18 см
D – the with of the front part.

Now we need to use small rectangle to cut two triangles:

  • make two stripes from the rest of fabric and put it in half
  • place on it our small rectangle obliquely as shown on the picture and cut

See also the schema below:

As reasult you need to have such two triangles:

Join triangles to have crossover layers.

Sew joined triangles to the main part.

Then sew the edge of the back side, fold the width A (see above on the pictures) and join front and back parts.

It is done!
